
In several hospitals in Argentina, cases of medication theft by internal staff have been reported, who then sold them on the black market. In Santa Fe, a security guard was arrested for stealing medications from the hospital where he worked. In La Matanza and San Francisco Solano, in Buenos Aires, other similar incidents have come to light.
In one case, a nurse was detained for taking fentanyl vials from a hospital in Buenos Aires. Authorities discovered that doses of this medication were missing, and after an investigation, identified an employee of a private ambulance service as responsible for the theft.
Another case involved a nurse who forged medical prescriptions to obtain fentanyl and morphine. Sources from the case revealed that the woman created false prescriptions to acquire the medications, which were then distributed by a third party among the neighbors.
In a health center in Rosario, a private security guard was reported for stealing medications from the hospital. After a gathering of neighbors demanding the illegal sale, it was discovered that the accused had taken several tablets of different drugs and handed them over to an accomplice for commercialization in the neighborhood.
The individual involved in this last incident, Marcos Celestino B, 34 years old, was detained after his participation in the medication theft was confirmed. Investigations also revealed that the prescriptions used in these cases were apocryphal, with forged stamps and signatures.
